Shelby Mustang GT350 Fastback Project Reaches $100,000 High Bid on Bring A Trailer

A highly sought-after 1966 Shelby Mustang GT350 Fastback project has garnered significant attention, with the latest bid reaching an impressive $100,000. The iconic vehicle, which is currently available on the renowned auction platform Bring A Trailer, showcases a fascinating history and a range of desirable features.

This final-built first-series GT350 fastback from 1966 was ordered on August 19 and left the factory on September 29 of the same year. As production transitioned to the revised 1967 model, chassis 6S2374 became the last of its kind in its original series. Originally finished in blue, it boasted a rear seat and radio as part of its initial configuration.

Interestingly, this particular GT350 experienced an intriguing journey before finding its way to the current auction. Upon being shipped to Minnesota dealer Herb Tousley Ford, it was returned to the Ford Distribution Point in St. Paul as the dealer declined delivery. Subsequently, it made its way to Chicago dealer Milo Brooke Inc., where it was eventually purchased by its original owner in March 1967.

Over the years, the vehicle changed hands and underwent transformations. In 1978, it was repainted white by its second owner before being placed into storage until being rediscovered and acquired by the seller in 2012. Combining style and performance, this GT350 retains many original components such as a 289ci HiPo V8 engine and a four-speed manual transmission.

The impressive features don't end there – this classic Mustang also boasts Kelsey-Hayes front disc brakes for enhanced stopping power, Koni shock absorbers for improved handling, Magnum 500-style 14" wheels that enhance its vintage appeal, black vinyl upholstery for a timeless aesthetic, a dash-mounted tachometer for precision driving, and an AM radio that adds to the nostalgic experience.

With its rich history and iconic status, it's no wonder that this 1966 Shelby Mustang GT350 Fastback has garnered significant attention on Bring A Trailer. The latest bid of $100,000 showcases the appreciation for this exceptional project car, and automotive enthusiasts eagerly await the auction end on February 20, 2024.
